From Treehouses to Shepherd's Huts: Unique UK Stays Worth Booking in 2026
In an increasingly stressful world of overflowing inboxes and to-do lists, nothing has become more sacred than the treasured weekend. A time to relax and unwind, putting the troubles of the week on pause for just a little while. We embrace the weekend warrior mentality of heading off somewhere Friday evening for a couple of nights spent tucked away in a cabin deep in the countryside, where the only agenda is deciding whether to lace up your walking boots or pour another cup of coffee. Across the UK, a new generation of staycation spots has transformed the humble woodland retreat into something altogether more enticing. Think floor-to-ceiling windows framing secluded countryside views, wood-fired hot tubs beneath star-filled skies, and dreamy interiors that strike the perfect balance between rustic charm and luxury. Over the past few years we’ve travelled extensively around Britain searching for unique stays that combine comfort, character and incredible surroundings. In this guide, we've rounded up some of the best cosy cabin stays in the UK for a weekend escape. Whether you're dreaming of mountain views, forest walks, lakeside sunsets, or simply a quiet place to switch off, these charming retreats offer the perfect setting for your next UK staycation.
