REST + WILD
Surrounded by woodland and green rolling hills, Rest + Wild in Shropshire is the perfect place to unwind and reset. Situated in Downton Estate, Rest + Wild have crafted four cosy cabins, each secluded from the other, to encourage a luxurious and restful stay. We recently spent two nights here and it was the perfect place for a relaxing getaway. We left feeling wonderfully restored after spending a couple of days reconnecting with nature.
THE SPARROW
We chose The Sparrow for our stay, which was created with privacy in mind. The cabin is tucked away within the woodland, with a fire pit and copper bath tub sat among the tall pine trees. Inside there was everything we needed for our stay, including the comfiest king-sized bed, a log-burner, a little kitchen with a fridge and gas hob for cooking, as well as a lovely bathroom. Perhaps best of all was the panoramic windows that made waking up in the morning all the more beautiful, with the iconic Clee Hill stood tall in the distance.
A WILD RAMBLE
The estate is absolutely stunning and so we made sure to pack our hiking boots and go for a ramble. In your Rest + Wild welcome pack you will find some set walking routes that are recommended, some of which will take you as far as Clee Hill, the highest peak in Shropshire. We visited over Halloween weekend when the trees were bright orange and the autumnal sunlight was at its most golden, which made for an incredible walk.
STAY OUTSIDE
The Sparrow’s outside area is just dreamy and it’s little wonder we spent more time outside than we did inside the cabin. The fire pit was the perfect place to spend our evenings, huddled around the flames, toasting marshmallows. We would make our breakfasts here in the mornings, with cast iron pans provided to make sure we could rustle up an entire feast. Perhaps best of all though was the giant copper bathtub that sits in the middle of the secluded woodland. It was such a wonderful experience to soak in the tub with only the trees and the birds for company. A truly restorative experience to be immersed in nature that way. I saved a dip for after dark, when I could sit back and watch the stars twinkle through the trees.
