A WEEKEND GUIDE TO SWANSEA BAY, WALES

May 22, 2023 Molleigh Cook

Sunburnt noses, balmy sea-swims and rows of towels lined out in the sand are scenes one conjures up when thinking of summers in the sunny Mediterranean. But, as we bob along the glistening sea atop our paddle boards, I have to remind myself that we are in fact in Wales, not Majorca. We’ve been invited along to Wales by Visit Swansea Bay, the official tourism board for Swansea, Mumbles and the Gower, to explore the best of what this little corner of the country has to offer.

A DREAMY OUTDOOR ESCAPE - GLAMPING AT COME BY, WALES

April 25, 2023 Molleigh Cook

Ah, the British summer. It is my humble opinion that nowhere compares to the UK in the summer. Long walks in the countryside, lazy afternoons reading in the balmy sunshine and camping adventures make up the majority of how I spend my time once the brief but sweet summer hits our Isles. Spending some time at Come By, in Powys, Wales, combines those favourites perfectly. Getting back to nature is encouraged here at Come by, but don’t let that fool you into thinking that means back to basics. In fact, off-grid has never looked easier.

A COUNTRYSIDE RETREAT ON THE WELSH BORDERS AT CYNEFIN RETREATS

February 10, 2023 Molleigh Cook

I am a cabin retreat fanatic at this point. Give me a quirky accommodation and a heaped dose of countryside and I swoon. So, when my friend Emily suggested we take a little trip, I couldn’t have said yes quicker. After endless searching for the perfect getaway, Emily found Cynefin Retreats. Set amongst woodlands and lush meadows, Cynefin’s pods and lodges offer luxurious outdoor-indoor getaways. Set on the Welsh borders, with the nearest town of Hay-On-Wye, Cynefin is heaven for fellow countyside-seekers.

11 EPIC ROAD TRIPS YOU SHOULD TAKE IN THE UK

January 27, 2023 Molleigh Cook

Ah, is there anything that screams adventure more than the classic road trip? Now, you may think of more obvious destinations when road trips come to mind, like the sunshine-filled open roads of coastal California or the dramatic landscape of Canada’s rocky mountains, but let me tell you that despite being tiny, the UK offers up some pretty epic road trips.

THE NORTHUMBERLAND 250 ROAD TRIP

January 24, 2023 Molleigh Cook

In our many years of road tripping across the UK, we have ticked off some iconic road trips. We’ve traveled down South to discover the beautiful coasts of Cornwall, journeyed around the wildest edges of Wales, completed the NC500 route along Scotland’s most northern corners and yet, despite the number of road trips under our belt, one area has remained to us totally abandoned. That is, until this past summer. Enter the North East, the forgotten corner of the UK that should be on everyone’s radar..

A LUXURIOUS HIDEAWAY AT KIP & NOOK, YORKSHIRE

January 4, 2023 Molleigh Cook

Kip & Nook is a little patch of heaven nestled in the Yorkshire countryside and is the ultimate hideaway. As a treat for Key’s birthday this year, I booked Kip & Nook with relaxation and luxury in mind and we were treated to both and then some. Kip & Nook has a collection of unique and quirky places to stay from cosy containers and off-grid hideaways to a barn big enough for 8 guests. There is a stay for everyone in mind. We opted to stay in Big Bro, the newest addition to the Kip and Nook family and had everything we needed for a couple nights of relaxation.

FESTIVE THINGS TO DO THIS CHRISTMAS IN STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN

November 30, 2022 Molleigh Cook

Stockholm is enchanting year round, but it is in the winter that the Nordic capital truly becomes her most majestic. It is the perfect place to travel to at Christmastime as the whole city partakes in festive merriment. Shops compete for the most charming window displays, buildings are wrapped in twinkly lights and the smell of saffron wafts out of every cosy coffee shop, inviting hour-long fika breaks. Add Christmas markets, snowy walks and ice-skating rinks into the mix and it is truly one of the best places to get into the festive spirit.

ROBIN HOOD’S BAY, YORKSHIRE - A PHOTO DIARY

November 18, 2022 Molleigh Cook

I have had my eye on Robin Hood’s Bay for a while now and finally got to visit as part of our trip to the North East coast this September. The Bay is an incredibly picturesque village by the sea, known for its exciting smuggling history and fishing heritage which tumbles right down to the shore. Despite the tricky trip down (bent knees at the ready!), it really is a wonderful place to visit. The village is full of tiny passages and secret turns in which you’ll find artsy shops selling makers goods, restaurants serving up local dishes and a couple of pubs to whet your whistle. We totally recommend ordering a whisky and enjoying the very drink that was once considered contraband and smuggled up through the cobbled streets!
