As avid campers, we are not good at staying still. We love to seize the weekends for camping adventures and spend our evenings after work jumping in the van and heading out on a road trip. So when the world stopped during a pandemic, we found ourselves itching to be away more than ever. As the UK started to peel itself out of lockdown, we knew it was time to take to the road once more.
Read more10 CHARMING TOWNS & CITIES TO VISIT IN CROATIA
We had dreamed about visiting the charming towns and cities of Croatia long before we actually got to visit. So when we finally booked the flights, we knew we wanted to see as many of the quaint towns as we possibly could whilst there. We visited more popular choices, such as Zadar and Split (two excellent choices if planning your own trip by the way), but we also discovered sleepier towns, oozing with charm but with fewer tourists. Here are just ten of our favourites.

During our Croatian road trip last September, we had just spent over a week running around the pretty cities of Istria, beautiful Zadar and the cobbled streets of Split when we found ourselves craving some chill time. We knew we wanted to visit one of the islands close to Split and after numerous recommendations, we jumped on a boat and headed to Hvar.

Earlier this year we were lucky enough to be able to stay at Log Jam cabin, nestled away within Little Menherion. I had been watching the build of this gorgeous cabin for a couple of years after seeing an article about Little Menherion in The Rolling Home magazine. Knowing it had recently been completed, it was the first place I thought of when we found ourselves looking for a last minute getaway.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from Venice. I had once seen it described as half beauty half tourist trap and I wasn’t sure which side i would cling to. It’s true that this city is both. It’s magical and chaotic and I am so grateful to have seen it at least once in my life. We spent only a day in Venice and when I look back at my photos it seems like a faraway dream, which I guess is all part of the charm.

On a whim, we booked a very last-minute trip to Iceland last March. We arrived in Reykjavik without a real plan of what we wanted to see or do and so took a very relaxed approach to seeing what the country had to offer. We jumped on some tours for part of the trip and booked a car at the end to explore on our own. For us, having our own car and the freedom it provides suited our style of travel more, but the tours made sure we saw all the sights that Iceland is famous for!
