The NC500 takes in 500 miles of Scotland's beautiful coastline. The roads are long and winding, with mountain views, magnificent wildlife, crumbling castles and quaint fishing villages around every bend. Shy of any major cities or busy spots after Inverness, the highlands are full of vast landscapes and few people. We knew the NC500 would be perfect for a van trip especially in winter where other travellers are few and far between.

Spoleto is an ancient city in the Italian province of Perugia. In all honesty, I had never heard of this slow and sleepy city so when we arrived I had no idea what to expect. My first impression was in the form of a very kind woman named Maria.

When I was busy working away to save up for our road trip adventure, I passed the time by daydreaming about what we would get up to when we were there. Slowly driving around the lakes of Switzerland and swimming in the clear water was a particularly favourite scene to visit when the hours dragged and dragged.

Nestled in the Northeast of Ireland lies the glorious coastal town of Carlingford. With its tiny cobbled streets and small alleyways, Carlingford still retains remnants of its medieval past and is an absolute gem within Ireland's Ancient East.

During an epic road trip through Europe last summer, my partner and I stopped in Switzerland for a few weeks. We spent our time exploring the country and sleeping in our home on wheels. The natural wonder of Switzerland was at our doorstep. Although we loved driving around the sun-kissed roads, one of the best ways to really immerse ourselves in the country was to jump into our hiking boots and explore on foot.

I have been dreaming about travelling around Europe in our campervan for a very, very long time. This wild and wonderful adventure was exactly what we had been craving.

In a bid to spend our birthdays in our camper van this year, we headed to beautiful Wales where we know and love best. We wanted to be at the beach to cheers to our big days (one day apart) and so we cruised on over to the Ceredigion coast for sunshine walks and evening campfires. As luck would have it, the weather was perfect for the few days we were there

A very last minute travel decision was made last month that my partner Key and I would accompany his sister on a short trip to explore some of Italy. She was due to attend a wedding in Tuscany and kindly asked if we fancied exploring a little beforehand. The next day we were in Italy. This fast-paced start (as well as nearly missing the flight there) was to set the stage for the chaotic and hilarious whirlwind of a trip that saw us visit Genoa, La Spezia, Cinque Terre, Pisa, Florence and Spoleto in just four days.
